Chapter 7 - The Sister Who Betrayed Me

Victoria finally confessed everything.

Not to poisoning Noah.

To helping the person who tried.

The threats began four months earlier.

Photographs.

Financial records.

Evidence from Victoria’s divorce that could send her to prison for fraud she claimed her husband committed.

The sender offered a deal.

Give them household access.

They would destroy the evidence.

Victoria agreed.

At first, harmless things.

Marcus’s travel schedule.

Security vendor.

Delivery routines.

Then camera codes.

She kept telling herself nobody would get hurt.

Elena listened without interrupting.

When Victoria finished, Elena asked:

“Did you ever think to tell me?”

“Yes.”

“How many times?”

“Every day.”

“And you didn’t.”

Victoria cried.

“I was scared.”

“So was Noah.”

Victoria collapsed.

Elena did not comfort her.

Not yet.

Maybe not ever.

But Victoria revealed one useful detail.

The sender always used the same phrase.

Protect what belongs to you.

Nathan had said those exact words in Elena’s father’s eulogy.
