Richard demanded a final exchange.
Victoria for the necklace files.
He did not know police had already extracted them.
Elena insisted on going.

Richard held Victoria at gunpoint.
Marcus and Monroe’s team surrounded the property.
Richard told Elena the truth he had spent decades hiding.
He and Nathan had begun stealing from the trust together.
Jonathan discovered it.
Thomas documented it.
Jonathan tried to expose them.
Nathan lost his nerve.
Richard did not.
Richard sabotaged Thomas’s federal cooperation.
He blackmailed Nathan.
He manipulated Marcus’s marriage from a distance.
He even encouraged Elena and Marcus to meet at a charity event years earlier.
“You think your love story was fate?”
Marcus stepped from the shadows.
“No.”
Richard turned.
Marcus continued.
“But everything after meeting her was my choice.”
Richard raised the weapon.
Victoria moved first.
She drove her shoulder into him.
The shot went into the greenhouse roof.
Glass rained down.
Lily dragged Victoria away.
Marcus tackled his father.
For three terrifying seconds father and son fought on the floor.
Then officers flooded the greenhouse.
Richard was arrested.
As Monroe cuffed him, Elena stood over the man who had treated her son like a clause in a contract.
Richard looked up.
“You’ll lose half the trust when Margaret files.”
Elena said:
“Take all of it.”
He stared.
“What?”
“If that’s what it costs.”
