Chapter 15 - Lily’s Father
Thomas Reed had not died twenty-two years earlier.
He survived another six years in hiding.
Then Richard found him.
Monroe recovered an old witness statement buried in a federal archive.
Thomas had attempted to become an informant.
Someone leaked his meeting location.
He disappeared permanently afterward.
The leak came from Nathan’s firm.
Lily confronted Nathan.
“You killed him.”
Nathan cried for the first time.
“No.”
“You gave Richard the address.”
Nathan could not answer.
That was answer enough.
Lily struck him.
Not hard.
Not like Elena had struck her.
One open palm.
Then she whispered:
“My mother waited twenty-two years.”
Nathan lowered his eyes.
Lily finally knew who betrayed her father.

But not where he died.
Richard still held that answer.
