Chapter 13 - WHAT REBECCA KNEW

Rebecca finally admits she discovered Anna was alive two years after the crash.
She did not tell Daniel.
She claims Voss convinced her that doing so would trigger Victor.
But unlike Marcus, Rebecca’s silence was not merely fear.
She also wanted the old medical scandal buried.
She arranged money to support Anna anonymously.
She told herself that made it acceptable.
Anna is furious.
“You paid for my groceries while letting my husband mourn me.”
Rebecca cannot answer.
The emotional confrontation becomes more powerful than another action scene.
Rebecca reveals Voss has become increasingly unstable.
He no longer cares only about protecting institutions.
He believes destroying the archive is the only way to ensure the past stays buried.
Jennifer’s red folder contains enough evidence to imprison him.
But the full archive contains proof against powerful hospitals, attorneys, executives, and former Mercer officers.
Rebecca tells them where Voss will go.
An abandoned research building outside Lake Geneva.
The site where Anna’s mother once worked.
Before Daniel leaves, Rebecca says:
“Voss thinks he is protecting the future.”
Anna answers:
May you like
“So did everyone who ruined our past.”
